Reaching our city

We glorify God by making disciples and multiplying churches in Greater Washington, D.C. Much of our disciple-making in the D.C. area occurs through our members’ personal witness in their offices, schools, and neighborhoods. But we also unite together in structured outreach to make disciples and multiply churches in our communities.

God has equipped each believer with talents and gifts to be His witness in the world. In Local Outreach, we provide a variety of opportunities for church members to serve in different communities, from children’s programming to box packing, as we build on the foundation and connections MBC created during the pandemic.  We recognize that we can’t meaningfully make disciples in a community if we are there only a few times a year, so we encourage you to join us as we establish and maintain an ongoing presence throughout our area.

Current Opportunities

We have some fun summer activities in the works for our warm weather!  The most important first step to serving anywhere is to join our eNews letter signup here.

Central Local Outreach Opportunities

  • Back-to-school Outreach Planning | As we launch into summer we know that the new school year will be upon us before we know it. Let us know if you are able to help as we collect backpacks and school supplies, stuff bags, and eventually distribute them through our locations and regions. Email Lauren DeLuca.
  • Afghan Refugee Care Teams | Assist our newest Afghan neighbors by recruiting your church group (or small group) to form a care team to wrap around a vulnerable family who is seeking to settle into life in a new country. Teams need to include at least five adults, and there is a commitment of several months, but this is our most relational opportunity and will be impactful for all involved. More information can be found here.

Location Outreach Efforts

Each location has outreach opportunities available for potential volunteers, so be sure to check out each’s Local Outreach page, but here are a few highlights.

  • Arlington | Pure J.O.Y – Serving residents at local nursing homes monthly and sharing God’s love one conversation and simple act of kindness at a time.
  • MoCo | Woven Ministry – Caring for vulnerable children and families in our community through direct service as well as support for the social workers and child welfare employees.
  • PW | 3R Community – Recovery, Restoration, Redemption – Worship and fellowship for justice-involved citizens. Email [email protected] for more information.
  • Loudoun | ESOL classes – ESOL offers English instruction and fellowship for those in the Loudoun area, and in partnership with Campo Blanco. For information about serving please email Aimee Palumbo.
  • Tysons | Each region holds outreach activities, so please check with yours to see how you can get involved.
More Outreaches

MBC members also lead several outreach ministries serving groups or causes about which they’re passionate—whether adoption and foster care or support packages for troops serving abroad. We also have ethnic fellowships which often lead outreach efforts in those ethnic communities locally. Check out our Ministry Directory for a full list of our outreach ministries.

For our MBC community, if you’d like to help out with any of our outreaches in the area, please sign up for our eNews here.
