Awana

WHO WE ARE

Awana is a weekly ministry that provides a fun environment for children and youth ages 3-18 to learn God’s Word. Our vision is for children to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ! Each week, Awana provides teaching and training to develop strong moral and spiritual values, helping children learn about the reality of God and the truth of the Bible. There are close to 11 million children from ages 2-18 that take part in Awana through more than 102,000 churches and schools in 140 countries! Interested in learning more about Awana? Please visit Awana.org.

Awana registration is open. Awana runs on Sundays from September to May, from 4:30 – 6:15 PM. We pray every Sunday at 4:00 PM. Registration is ongoing and children are accepted throughout the year. However, acceptance in the Ministry Discipleship is based on the numbers of leaders volunteering in the class.

Awana is a ministry that is heavily run by parent volunteers. All Awana parents/guardians are requested to serve in some capacity. Our best volunteers for our children are ones who are present every week in some capacity. Awana groups are divided by age to best follow their spiritual and emotional growth in different environments and stages of life.

  • Puggles: 2 years (reserved only for children of weekly volunteers)
  • Cubbies: 3-4 year olds
  • Sparks K: Kindergarten
  • Sparks 1 & 2: Grades 1-2
  • Truth and Training (T&T): Grades 3-6 (separated by gender)
  • Trek: Grades 7-8
  • Journey: Grades 9-12

WHAT WE DO

A night at Awana is broken into three segments:

Handbook Time – Children develop a sense of community during this time as they break out into small groups. Awana has take-home, age-specific, interactive handbooks that promote spending time every day in God’s Word, express healthy values, and encourage memorization of Scripture, all by using achievement-oriented learning segments.

Game Time – Every Awana meeting includes active and friendly team competition! We have a variety of organized games that allow children to participate with their peers in teams and compete against other kids in their age group.

Large Group Time – This is a time dedicated to Bible teaching in the age-based large groups that complements the lessons learned in Handbook Time.
