2014 The Gospel Breaks Out Tour (Acts 11-15)
April 27-May 9, 2014
The "Gospel Breaks Out" tour is a step-by-step tracing of the first missionary journey of the Apostle Paul along with Barnabas and John Mark (until John Mark deserted Paul and Barnabas part way through this journey—Acts 13:13). The tour begins with the Gospel message's first "breaking out" of Israel in Acts 11 due to the persecution of Paul (then Rabbi Saul) and going to the Gentiles for the very first time. We will visit Antioch on the Orontes River (Acts 11:19) where the first Gentile-based church was established and where the followers of Jesus were first called "Christians" (Acts 11:26). We then trace the steps of Barnabas and Saul as, in Acts 13:4, they were "sent out by the Holy Spirit" to be the first "missionaries" in church history and to carry the Gospel deeper into the eastern Roman Empire of their day. We will visit Perga (Acts 13:13), where Paul and Barnabas "spoke the word" (Acts 14:25). Then we will go to Psidian Antioch (Acts 13:14), where Paul preached the first sermon recorded in the New Testament—and it was magnificent! Then we follow Paul and Barnabas to Iconium (Acts 14:1) and Lystra (Acts 14:6), where Paul was stoned and left for dead (Acts 14:19; 2 Cor 11:25). Then on to Derbe, where the two missionaries preached and then turned back to re-visit all the cities they had been to—and to strengthen the disciples in each city (Acts 14:22)—finally returning back to Antioch on the Orontes from where they had been sent out by the Holy Spirit. We will also talk at length about the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15, the first "church council" in history, where groundbreaking theology regarding Gentiles coming to Christ was solidified for all time. And, after all of this exciting biblical input, we will go to PARIS for the last three days of the tour, where, in the Louvre, we will see some of the greatest archaeological artifacts in the world relating to the Bible. As always, Lon will be going everywhere with everyone everyday, and will do the Bible lessons on site at each of these biblical sites.
This is the first time Lon has ever done this tour and it is a tour that you will certainly not want to miss! All tour details and prices will be available in the late summer of 2013—but save the date!
