Week 20 | ITALY

Although the church’s history in Italy extends as far back as the New Testament, evangelicals are less than 2% of the population today. Italy is full of people who are culturally “churched” but lack saving faith in Christ.

Since 2010, the Breccia di Roma Church has sought to be a gospel witness in Rome. They preach the Word, teach sound doctrine, practice evangelism, provide theological training, and serve refugees and the poor.

In 2017, they purchased a permanent meeting space in Rome’s city center—just outside the Vatican walls. The building provides an incredible opportunity for the church to be a central hub for gospel work throughout the city and to plant other churches. MBC was able to send a small short-term team to serve the church in the summer of 2023, and each church was mutually encouraged!

One highlight from last year was the first anniversary of the Vatican neighborhood church plant. Two new church members were added to the congregation.

PRAY

  • That God would open the eyes of Italians to see the glory of God in Christ and be converted.
  • That God would equip churches to preach the gospel and defend the faith among devout Catholics and secular skeptics.
  • That God would strengthen the church plant and provide a permanent location for them to meet.
  • That God would give continued church unity and wisdom in evangelism plans and activities.
